The Association of Industrial Truck Trainers (AITT) will consider applications for membership from companies, instructors of lift trucks and construction equipment and others who have an interest in improving the standards of safety and training for operators.

About AITT membership

AITT is a democratic organisation with biennial elections to the AITT council, we are the only accrediting body run by the members for the members. We are a founder member of the Accrediting Bodies Association (ABA). AITT has a large and wide range of published standards available, developed by experts in the particular fields they refer to.


AITT offers four categories of membership:

  1. Limited Company – Companies and organisations involved in the training of tutors, trainers, operators and others for the operation and maintenance of equipment, approved for that purpose where appropriate by an accrediting body recognised by the Health and Safety Commission.
  2. Non-Limited Company – Usually an individual offering commercial training who is approved as a training organisation by an accrediting body recognised by the Health & Safety Commission. (Have to be annually monitored to be accredited as an AITT training provider)
  3. Employed Instructor – Registered tutor or trainer who is an employee or solely sub-contracting but does not issue certificates under his own name.
  4. Associate – A company or individual who has an interest in improving safety and training standards, but do not, themselves, carry out training.

Membership fees will be invoiced upon an application for membership being accepted by Council.

What the membership can do for you.

  • Members have the benefit of AITT expertise, i.e. training matters and time scale
  • Access to the members only section of the website.
  • Members have the right to use the AITT logos.
  • AITT is a non-profit making organisation with a transparent structure and finances - you can see where your money goes and you have a say on how it is spent.
  • The AITT represents the members on a number of forums, and is regularly involved in various initiatives relating to fork lift usage.
  • AITT membership is open to persons involved in lift truck training, or use of lift trucks: i.e. Instructors, training companies, employers, manufacturers, health & safety specialists.
