AITT appoints new General Manager

AITT would like to welcome Adam Smith as our new General Manager who starts his role on 9th April 2018.  Adam Smith, who has a richly experienced career in workplace transport training, joins the Association of Industrial Truck Trainers with the aim of increasing membership, providing even greater support for existing members and bringing new ideas based on a close understanding of the needs of instructors who deliver the training. In addition to this, Adam will contribute to the development of the of the Accrediting Bodies Association (ABA) Workplace Transport.  Announcing the appointment, AITT Chairman Mark Asplen said: “I believe we have the ideal candidate in Adam Smith. He brings a wealth of experience in the sphere of MHE training having worked at senior level for both an international manufacturer and a leading national training provider within this sector.

PPTs and LLOPs with flip down platform

Following discussions at the last ABA meeting, all PPTs and LLOPs that have a flip down platform will now be categorised as A1. This is because all flip downs are operated in the pedestrian mode and are only used to transport in the rider mode.

The Latest Training Standard for Counterbalance and Reach

On 1st February 2017 the ABA issued a new training standard for Counterbalance and Reach Trucks. Although the standard states that this is for B1, D1 and D2, it also includes B2 and B3. This standard must be fully in place by 1st September 2017. To download your own copy Click here
